Start protection
Open Filter Guard, choose Set Up Protection, and purchase an available subscription or restore an existing one. After service setup finishes, return to the home screen and choose Turn On. Approve the iOS prompt. The home screen shows the status reported by iOS. No separate Filter Guard account or device-management enrollment is needed.
Ads still appear
Filtering covers Safari and apps using Apple's supported web connections. Apps using other networking methods must opt in. Some ads use the same domains as the content you want or are outside the curated list. Filter Guard cannot block every ad. Check that the home screen says Blocking is On and that your internet connection works.
Test blocking
Choose Test blocking on the home screen. The in-app page automatically checks a harmless resource deliberately included in Filter Guard's policy. It does not change your protection settings. Blocking not detected means that resource loaded. Blocking appears active means your connection worked but the resource could not load; another blocker or a resource-specific outage can cause the same result. Unable to verify means the test could not produce a reliable answer. Check the connection and use Test again. This test does not check every ad or display browsing history.
A website or video fails
Turn protection off, then reload the page or reopen the app. Turn it back on after you finish. Turning it off applies to all participating apps. Report the public domain or app name only if needed; do not send private full URLs or account details.
Setup or permission fails
Unlock the device and check your connection. Open Subscription. Use Retry Setup if it appears; this retries access delivery without buying again. Use Repair Setup only when offered for device verification. If iOS permission was refused, try again and approve the system prompt. If another Filter Guard filter is active, turn it off before enabling the consumer filter. In the classic app, choose “Turn Off until I turn it on”; a timed pause leaves that filter enabled.
Restore, cancel, or request a refund
Use Restore Purchases with the Apple Account that bought your subscription. Manage Subscription opens Apple's subscription controls. Deleting Filter Guard or turning filtering off does not cancel the subscription. Apple handles refunds through Report a Problem.
